Finally Finished!!

Can you believe it, we are finally finished with our basement!! I still can't get over it and it has been about a week. Course there are still little odds 'n' ends here and there, but we are done! This last month Adam and I have been working in over drive to be done before Memorial weekend. In just 3 weeks we finished sheet rocking, primed, painted, tiled, layed bathroom floor and carpet, did trim and floorboard, hooked up electrical and plumbing etc, etc. It was just crazy there for a while. Tonight we were both talking about how tomorrow we really don't have anything we have to do, and it feels great! Well here is a slide show of our finished product. Almost finished, there is still drapes and the odds 'n' ends, but you know what I mean.

Of course it is much better in real life. We welcome anyone who wants to to come check it out. Thank you soooo much to all of our family and friends who helped us so much! We appreciate your time, energy, and selflessness. Thanks for all those who loaned us tools, we couldn't have done this without all of your help and support.

Now here's a little do's and don'ts list I have thought of through out all the silly little things we had go on. ( I say silly but at the time it wasn't always that way)

~Do... Hire out if you can! :) Maybe not entirely, it was a great experience to learn all this.

~Don't... forget to wear a hat when you're sanding the seams of sheet rock.

This is what happens if you don't wear a hat. Long sleeves are smart too. :)

~Do...Make sure the babysitter is watching your kids at all times, if you can get one. (Kaleb knocked over a stack of doors and put a hole in one. Luckily it was the back side of the bathroom door. We will have to patch it.)

~Don't...drop the tool for installing the shower drain down the shower drain! And then the spare one as well!! If you do, hopefully your drain doesn't go down to far and it turns. Then you just need to hot glue a ribbon to a heavy magnet and you are good to go! (poor Adam he was so upset, but it worked out.)

~Do have as much fun as you can, keep your spirits up and learn all you possibly can! I have loved feeling so handy. :)

One more little funny thing, well it is to me. Now don't make fun of me but... when you are tiling, this is how the spacers are supposed to go in,

Well I put most of them in this way,
It was actually very efficient. I didn't have to keep putting more spacers for every corner. No wonder I was confused when it said to pull them out before grouting. Oh well. You live and you learn. I think it worked just fine. But it is funny.
Again thanks to all of you for your support! We are so happy! Now it's on to birthday celebrations and summertime fun!
