I'm a Workin' Girl Again...

Well sort of. Last week Grace had her dental appointment at the office I used to work at (Dr. Hans Reinemer, Pediatric Dentistry) and while I was there I mentioned that if they ever needed any help I would be happy to fill in. So the next day they realized they would be needing help, one of the assistants was going on vacation, and they called me up to fill in for her. Well it just happened that the days they needed me were the days Adam is off this week. Perfect! I was very excited. I loved working there before and was sad to leave, but I wanted to stay home with Grace when she was born. It's just a temporary thing, but that is what is best for all of us right now.

Today was my first day back and although I was very nervous, after being gone almost 4 years, I think it went pretty well. I was able to remember almost everything and the things I didn't remember came back as soon as I did them. It was awesome. I'm so glad and grateful that they wanted to have me help them. It was a lot of fun and refreshing. Although I was still working with kids, I managed to get some adult interaction! :) I work again tomorrow and Thursday. What a good change for me. My babies missed me a lot though and I missed them, but that felt good too. I often envy the welcome home Adam gets when he has been gone. But tonight it was my turn.

This is very fitting for me today because I got spit on by a couple patients that didn't like the taste! Not that bad though.

Besides dental work, I have also been a construction worker. Adam and I (more Adam) have been pushing hard to get this basement project done. Friday, April 16, we hung doors, and bought a nail gun because putting them up with a hammer was a joke. Saturday Adam's family came over and helped us sheet rock. For the first few hours it was just my sis in law Carissa and I helping Adam hang the ceiling, and it was quite comical. But we did it. His family helped us get most of the big stuff up, then yesterday and today Adam really went to work putting together all the puzzle pieces we have to cut. What a joke. I tell ya, if you are finishing your basement, or will.... hire out the sheet rock and mudding! We couldn't, and it is good for us to learn but man what a pain. It's awesome to see it come together though. We are nearing the end, YEAH!

My dad (Tom) putting in electrical.
Me stuffing the insulation behind the pipes.
Adam hanging doors with his new "gun".
Carissa measuring sheet rock.
Our sweet Kaleb on clean up duty. He loves to help any way he can.

Yay for getting out of the house for a few days!! I think it totally helps you appreciate both sides (working full time vs. staying at home with kids). Fun for you. How is Adam handling being a single dad for a few days?

The basement looks like it's coming along awesome. You'll need to have us all over for a partay when it's done. I'll bring chips. Janica can make her famous cookies (I'm volunteering her).
